Thirumalai Nayakar Palace is one of the famous sightseeing places at Madurai in Tamilnadu. This is the main palace were the King Thirumalai Nayakar lived and ruled a Madurai in the period of 1623 to 1659 CE. In his period many of the temples are rebuilt and renovated. Thirumalai Nayakar Palace was constructed around the period of 1629 and completed at 1636. The design and architecture is a blend of Dravidian and Islamic styles. The Interior is richly decorated and exterior is treated in a austere style and this palace is famous for giant pillars are the height of 82feet & Width 19feet.This massive pillar columns reflect the Gothic (German) style. Now, only one-fourth of its original structure remains there.
